Americas Best Value Inn Ellsworth

I've stayed in several of these Motels in my work travels around Kansas. This one is by far the cleanest one I've stayed in. The rooms were updated, the sheets were fresh, and the shower worked amazingly. The location is only inconvenient because of being in Ellsworth. If you forgot something, the closest walmart is about 45 minutes away.

We stayed here after we were in a wreck nearby, recommended by the tow truck operator. It is an old style motel, but well maintained. Our room was nice, clean, and quiet. We liked the new walk-in shower.

I remembered staying here years & year ago during a blizzard. Nothing fancy, very basic but ok for a quick overnight. Priced right, drive up to your own door, micro & fridge w/freezer, in-room coffee, free wifi w/adequate signal, large wall mounted TV. Room appeared to have been remodelled with laminate flooring & walk-in shower. Not "white glove" clean but not gross, although while plugging in my power strip bedside I noticed the square boxed outlet had a thick layer of dust. It had 4 plugs so I was grateful it was handy, as the outlets in the lamps were too high on the wall to accommodate my chargers. Bed linens were clean but pillows were flat & need to be replaced. Positive: It was close to my relative's home. Negative: The couple that managed it was rude, the sheets were dirty, the breakfast pastries were disgusting, we were treated disrespectfully. Even their sign was broken and flapping in the wind. It has gone way down hill since last time we stayed there.

Upon first look, the hotel is relatively clean & recently renovated. The closer you look, the more issues you see. Extremely flat pillows, musty smelling sheets though they look clean, rusted & newer nails plus broken boards all over the parking lot (free flat tire with purchase of a room—what a steal!) all alongside poor hospitality & customer service. We specifically chose this location because of the pool. When I called & asked before booking, I said “is the pool open & is it warm & useable?” The attendant on the phone confirmed so we booked. Once we got settled, we went to swim with two children and the pool was frigid! We asked why we were told otherwise and all the attendant said was “it’s indoors and it’s open.” Hypothermia, anyone?! Steer clear of this location. I promise it’s not
