This campground is in the middle of nowhere and it’s absolutely beautiful. Prairie dogs are everywhere! 🐕 Heard some coyotes after dark. The camp hosts, Owen and Teresa, are really nice and keep the place very clean. Bathrooms and shower facilities are top notch. The well water here is exceptional, slightly sulfur, but very soft and good for the skin and hair. There is a dump station on site and fresh potable water for filling your tanks. Lots of interpretive walking trails surrounding the campground. Great for stargazing because there is no light pollution.
I stayed one night here in my campervan after two nights down the road at James Kipp for two nights and happy to find a place with showers not far away. The campground was fairly empty, the tent loop only had one other site in use. You're surrounded by prairie dogs. Tons of meadowlarks and vesper sparrows. The RV loop had a few more people and several of the camper cabins appeared to be occupied. There's no real shade anywhere. In June this wasn't too big of a deal as the weather wasn't too hot yet, but I'd expect it to be uncomfortable later in summer. There's also no real privacy between campsites. This wasn't an issue since barely anyone else was there, but if the campground was full it would probably have bothered me. The parking areas for most sites were not flat, and only one or
Part of the Mars Vista section of the Amercian Prairie Reserve. Camp sites look good. We hiked the loop trail. Very informative and enjoyable. No shade. Do it early.
Endless vistas and excellent wildlife viewing from a 5 star campground that has immaculate bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and a really excellent camp host. Visit the American Prairie Reserve website before arriving to make sure you are prepared - roads in the area can be impassable after a rain (though this site is fine as it is off a paved road) cell service is spotty, weather can be temperamental, etc - but this place cannot be beat if you are a birder or just looking for complete quietude.
Very nice campground! All RV sites are pull through! Twelve 30A-50A electric sites, easy access to water as you enter, very nice new shower facilities, great hiking/biking trails and close to the free 19 mile Auto Tour Interpretive Trail!
