Aloft Leawood-Overland Park

Admittedly, I was hesitant to book here after reading some reviews about the property being unkept and in need of repair. After staying here I can say this hotel is well kept, well managed and in a fantastic location. It's within walking distance to more shops and restaurants than you can imagine. My first impression was from Kate at the front desk who was absolutely a delight. She was highly knowledgeable and very friendly. The room was clean, smelled great and had a enviable view of the ice skating rink. The view of the Christmas lights was a great touch. Parking was simple and free to the garage just north of the hotel, about a two minute walk.

recently stayed at the Aloft in Leawood, and unfortunately it fell short of expectations, especially for a Marriott-branded hotel. The property feels dated and not well maintained — from the worn-out furnishings to general areas that need refreshing. While the location is convenient and the staff were friendly, the overall upkeep just didn’t match the standards I expect from this brand. I hope management considers updating and improving the facility because it has great potential, but in its current state it was a letdown.

I feel strongly that your hotel overcharges people based on what they provide. I wouldn't normally write a review like this, but there are a number of glaring issues that I feel management should look into if they want to have a good reputation in the KC area, especially the area where this particular hotel is located. 1. The light system is wonky. There should be a single light for all illumintation sources 2. The ceiling is unfinished and looks terrible. Honestly I feel like it wouldn't pass inspection at most hotels, and I have a hard time believing the Marriott approved it 3. Water pressure is far too intense in the shower. I stayed at the A Loft hotel in October 2025. Our party consisted of two grandmother's and two adult granddaughters. We are all great friends and very close. We all came from different states, from as far away as Portland, OR, Seattle, and Missouri. We wanted to all be together for one night. We brought snacks and popcorn in hopes of watching a movie. The television in our room did not work. They said thd internet was out and was being worked on. We kept checking and were always told the same thing. After two hours, we decided to check out the pool as we were bored. When we entered the pool room, the chlorine fumes and vapor was so strong it was burning our eyes and nose as we would breathe. I wanted to use my Marriott gift card for an emergency visit to Kansas City, Kansas from Appleton, WI, on Christmas Day. I called Marriott reservations and they scheduled me with aloft in Leawood, just 5 min. away from where my 87 yr. old parents reside in a Senior Living Center. I gave the front desk my gift card first and told her I wanted my fees to be paid by my gift card. She said she understood, but also wanted my credit card for incidentals. I also gave her my credit card. She completely ignored my gift card and charged both nights on my credit card on the first night, which I realized on my card app on my cell phone. I spoke to at least 3 other staff at the front desk over the next two days but they were unable to correct the errors. Before I left on Saturday to return to Wisconsin
