Akwaaba Bed and Breakfast

Came to Akwaaba Poconos for a weekend marriage retreat with my church. We rented the Trophy House which was very nice and comfortable. It was an excellent and memorable weekend that everyone enjoyed. The food was excellent and Chef Theo knows how to fry some fish. He also gets props for the personal attention he provided including helping with a bee sting. Monique the owner was just wonderful. She shared inspirational stories and led us in activities that we all enjoyed. Shame on me because can't remember the other young lady but she took great care and attention to all of the needs of us a group as well as our individual needs. This week, my family and 3 of my longtime friends spent 2 nights at Noble Lane celebrating my birthday. We occupied a room at the mansion and the farmhouse. We took advantage of the high tea and the delicious meals prepared by the wonderful Chef Theo. He is a gem and true hospitality was on the menu. We had a great time and pledge to return at a later date. The farmhouse was quaint and cozy, with wooden floors and ceiling, a working fireplace and spacious bedrooms; with a beautiful kitchen and authentic farmhouse feel, comfortable and friendly. Prior to our arrival, the owner and CEO, called me personally to make sure all the details on my “wish list”were being handled and promised to make it an extraordinary experience and indeed it was. A quick weekend getaway was what the dr ordered! About a 5 hour drive from northern VA, my first time in that part of Pa. It’s a beautiful state, rolling hills, lovely drive up the mountain. The property is gorgeous, stately mansion built in 1908. As you can imagine with age, some exterior work is required but don’t let that deter you. Upon entry of the spacious foyer, you’re reminded of the beautiful architecture during that time. The owner, Monique Greenwood. greeted us warmly and got us checked in and straight to the room. It was on the 3rd floor, easily accessible via elevator. It was comfy, spacious, clean and neat ensuite and a small balcony with chairs. The bed slept like a dream! Immaculate rooms and property. Attentive staff. The owner is lovely and was present when we stayed. Look forward to delicious food with beautiful presentation. I stayed with my family and we had an amazing staycation. Felt very comfortable for our first trip during Covid. They took all mandates and protocols seriously. I even used the warm and well-maintained pool!
