Aitkin Lake Resort

Barely a “resort”. Roads are horrible to drive on pulling a camper or boat. Owner himself was not nice. Talked to us like we were stupid. After he let us know there was no available he said “ you can take the road down and make your way out the gate”. Would not recommend staying here.

We stayed for 5 days, 4 nights in late July. From top to bottom, the entire resort is beautiful. I've been told it can get busy, but that was not my experience. It was a very relaxing and quiet 5 days. The owner was receptive to our needs and available. There is firewood and ice on site, so we didn't have to drive for that. We also rented a pontoon, which was spotless and luxurious, and had more than enough room for 4 adults and 2 small children. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone that needs a good getaway.

TL;DR: We LOVED our time at Aitkin Lake Resort and were very impressed with the campground, friendliness of the owners, and the overall atmosphere. Our trip was incredibly relaxing and we would recommend it for anyone! About our stay: 4 night tent camping in an electric/water site. Campsite: There are 5 campsites (2 pull through, 3 standard) right along the lake all with a BEAUTIFUL view. Spots vary in size. Our spot (R2) was a pull through which allowed enough room for our car, tent, and the provided picnic table and fire pit. One road runs right in front of the sites, but there was limited traffic so not a big annoyance. Not very private, but it worked for us. Aitkin lake is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone is extremely friendly. We have been coming up for over 30 years and God willing we will be going up as long as we can. Great experience every time.

I visited Aitkin Resort for a quick unscheduled ice fishing trip. The service was hands down the best that can be provided. Rooms are clean, the lake view breath taking, and fishing was exactly what I was looking for. After the first day I couldn't wait to book more trips with all my long time fishing buddies, this is what we are looking for I said! The owner personally brought us out and put us on the fish. No guild service costs, just room which was priced at fair market value. We talk about this attitude of "Minnesota Nice", at Aitkin resort you get to experience exactly that! Not only am I going back, I'll be back every time I want to fish! Thanks again!!
