I wanna note the downside first: Since there is no camp host on site, you gotta deal with bad neighbors on your own. There is no one to run to when you have people walking through your camp snooping through your stuff when you're sleeping. This only happened to me once and I hope it never happens again!! Cell service is spotty but still available, I WILL call the cops next time someone does that to me and I recommend you do that as well. Otherwise... I absolutely LOVE this place I just happened upon, by searching for a place I could legally rock hound. It's only $6 per night and so far, in my experience, rarely packed. There's always an available site even when there are other visitors. You can totally get to the campground with a regular fwd street car, but to get further into the canyo

Intermittent Verizon phone signal, best signal at the camp spots near entrance. If you need that. Was able to lug in a 28foot bumper pull toy hauler. Make sure you’re in 4x4 when leaving with a trailer, lost traction at the steep hill leaving the campground. Switched to 4X and that Cummins purred up the hill. Lone wolf on a Monday. Best time to explore is early morning or late evening to avoid the numerous biting spring and summer insects. Saw a heard of Big Horn Sheep in the morning.

A BLM campground just about 10 minutes off paved roads. Each campsite can support multiple vehicles, multiple tents and includes a fire pit, a cement table and a metal shade structure. It’s is a convenient pit stop on the west side of the Mojave Road. No fees required, pit toilets included. This campground is right along an active railroad, be prepared for long freight trains at any time of day.

It's beautiful. For the price it's awesome. But I much prefer paying a little more for cleaner bathroom but getting to see the bridge at sunrise was great. Got to see the train at sunrise also. The camp ground was not crowded. Only the other campers for a Friday night. We have a parks pass so only $3 a night, but again, it did be worth charging us more to be able to clean up the bathrooms a bit. The view is great. At night you can see the Milky Way. We watched stars all night. About 3am they are the brightest.

Wonderful place to get away from it all. We spent 5 days and only explored less than half. The roads are no problem if it hasn't been raining. We stayed in the campground at the very end site #13. They were not collecting fees. And we found the water spiket on our 2nd to last day. Lol almost every site has a BBQ pit and a separate fire pit plus a metal awning roof over picnic table. We found some gorgeous rocks and 2 tranchulas. They didn't bother us or our animals. We meet some awesome people.
