Acorn Campground

We stayed at this campground in July. There was NO POOL during a HEATWAVE!! We were not informed when we made our reservation that the pool was under construction. To make matters worse, being there is no pool, we went to the beach one day, which I'm not a fan of. We came back from the beach to find there was no water to wash the dang sand off of us! They were having some kind of issue with a leak and turned the water off. It was unbelievable. Roads are so bad that I thought our rig was going to turn over before we got to our site. Needless to say our girls couldn't ride their bikes. I was afraid they'd get hurt on the roads. Then my husband took our son to fish only to find that the one open spot at the lake where you can fish already had people fishing there. Our son is only four, so he

Would never stay here again. The pool is not open for the summer and we were not informed of this. They advertise 2 playgrounds and there is only 1. The roads have potholes all over, couldn’t even ride my bike. The gate is constantly up so anyone could come in. The bathrooms are filthy. The fishing ponds are overgrown. Mosquitoes and tics everywhere. They definitely need to spray. The manager never addresses any issues. Don’t waste your money here!!

I saw all the bad reviews and canceled my first time I booked. The next day me and my wife decided that we should give it a shot and I’m glad we did. I honestly loved it there. The pool is open and it’s really nice, the location is 10 minutes from Wildwood and there’s a bunch of restaurants around going towards the beach. We had an issue with our breaker the first night and it took them 15 minutes to help us out. The employees are so kind and helpful and that’s very important to us. For the negatives, there’s only Wi-Fi in the lobby, some of the arcade machines are down, and the shower area can use a really good scrubbing. Honestly, the good weigh out the bad and we will definitely be coming back many times in the future.

The staff is friendly enough here, but what they won't tell you is they will require a $100 deposit so that you leave with the campsite clean, and an additional $25 deposit for the gate! If you are a Thousand Trails member you cannot make another reservation until that hold is cleared. Nowhere on their website or when you walk in is this type of deposit noted. And it's odd anyway, because if you could see the condition of the transient sites to begin with they are obviously not groomed and the trees are not properly trimmed. I scratched the side of my motorhome trying to extract myself from the very tight site they had put me in.

I am a seasonal camper here. I love having my family and friends down, and of course, our camper friends are like family. The cons ever since Acorn Campground was purchased by Thousand Trails, the campground is like the forgotten stepchild, the roads inside are horrible, and we will not have a pool this year, because they did not do their job and pull the correct permits 2 weeks before Memorial Day. There are no safe fishing ponds FYI. But they keep raising the fees all of us seasonals have a very hard decision to make.
